The first independent feature film shot almost entirely in Nepal by a foreign director and crew, Highway to Dhampus is being released in Nepal on September 25, 2015 (Asoj 8, 2072).
The much acclaimed film has received amazing responses in film festivals all over the world and bagged several awards, too.
Highway to Dhampus beautifully captures the cultural and geographical essence of Nepal, and is a debut for Nepali actors like Raj Ballav Koirala, Suesha Rana, and Desh Bhakta Khanal to international audience. They will be seen playing major roles beside Hollywood actors Rachel Hurd-Wood and Gunner Wright.
A presentation of FiftyFilms, Highway to Dhampus has been written and directed by Rick McFarland, and produced by John De Blas Williams.
40% of the profit from Nepal screening of Highway to Dhampus will go towards the relief of people affected by the April 25 earthquake and other social activities through an NGO called Mind The Gap Worldwide. Earlier, charity shows of the film held in the UK, US and Australia were able to send in relief fund to the earthquake victims.
Synopsis
Set in the Annapurna Mountains of Nepal, a spoiled British heiress (Rachel Hurd-Wood) visits the headmistress of a small orphanage (Suesha Rana) in an attempt to fix her image through charitable acts. The western-savvy bush pilot (Raj Ballav Koirala), and American photojournalist/chaperone (Gunner Wright) discover they too have reasons to change. Amidst both hope and tragedy, this story explores the difficult yet promising path we take in order to live better, give more fully, and to love.
